With great regret, George Michael has been forced to postpone his concert tonight (Wednesday 26th October) at the Royal Albert Hall, London.

A Doctor visited George this afternoon and confirmed he is suffering from a viral infection and has a high temperature, and on medical advice he has been advised that he cannot perform tonight to allow him time to recover before his next concert at the Royal Albert Hall on Friday 28th October.

Following today’s announcement from the organisers of the Manx Telecom Bay Festival stating that this year’s Festival is cancelled, the promoters of the Elton John concert wish to make it clear that Elton John’s concert was not part of the cancelled Manx Telecom Bay Festival.

However, because both the Elton John concert and the Bay Festival were due to share the same infrastructure in Nobles Park, there are some logistical issues to resolve to ensure that the Elton John concert will go ahead.

The promoters of the Elton John concert have, jointly with Elton John’s management, decided that they will do all they can to make certain the people of the Isle of Man will not be without live music this summer and are working together with the Douglas Corporation and the Manx Government, along with many of the Island’s supply companies, to make sure that this concert will go ahead as planned.

Elton John commented that he is “looking forward to performing on the Isle of Man at Nobles Park on June 16”, his first ever concert on the Island.

Tickets for the concert will be dispatched from next week.

George Michael is ill with pneumonia and any other speculation regarding his illness is unfounded and untrue. He is receiving excellent medical care; he is responding to treatment and slowly improving.

To ensure his complete well-being, George Michael’s Doctors have advised that he cannot perform the rest of his Symphonica tour and that he instead takes a full and complete rest.

Prof. Dr. Christoph Zielinski, Chairman, Department of Medicine General Hospital - Medical University Vienna, Austria and Prof. Dr. Thomas Staudinger, Specialist in Internal Medicine and Intensive Care Medicine have stated the following:

"George Michael has severe community acquired pneumonia and is being treated as an inpatient. His condition has stabilised and he is responding to treatment. From the current point of view, the time until recovery cannot be estimated, but he will not be able to perform the rest of the tour. Besides medical treatment, complete rest and peace and quiet are mandatory."

As a result, all of the British dates of the Symphonica European tour will be postponed. George was very much looking forward to bringing his tour back home and performing for his loyal and dedicated UK fan base.

Discussions and preparations are currently under way in order to arrange the rescheduled dates and further announcements will be made at the earliest opportunity. In the meantime, Tickets Holders are asked to retain their tickets.

We have received the following statement from George’s representatives:-

Singer George Michael has been forced to postpone the Cardiff dates (26th and 27th November) of his Symphonica Tour, due to illness.

The singer recently postponed tour dates in Vienna and Strasbourg under doctor’s orders after being diagnosed with pneumonia and he is currently receiving treatment.

Plans to reschedule these postponed dates will be provided when available.

We realise this is extremely disappointing for all fans, but the situation is unavoidable.

The tour commenced in late August, and George has performed 45 shows to date as part of his "Symphonica - The Orchestral Tour".

The promoters have asked ticket holders for these concerts, to retain their tickets, as further announcements regarding replacement dates will follow.

Paul McCartney has announced that he will return to Mexico with the current On The Run tour, to play a concert at the Azteca Stadium in Mexico City, on Tuesday 8th May 2012. Tickets for his show at this 100,000+ seat venue, will go on sale next week.

This will be Paul's first visit to Mexico since his Up And Coming Tour in 2010, where his first date at Mexico City's Foro Sol Stadium shattered records: 60,000 tickets were sold out in minutes, making it the fastest-selling show in the country’s history. Sources at Ticketmaster Mexico speculated that tickets could have sold even faster, had technology been able to keep up with demand.  A second concert was added for the following night and both shows instantly became the stuff of local legend.

Look forward to more incredible singalongs and impressive synchronized cigarette lighter work, which took place last time Paul played in the Distrito Federal, or “el D.F.” as they call it, when he returns this May.

Not even three months in, 2012 is already proving yet another banner year for Paul McCartney. The same week that Paul's new Kisses On The Bottom album was released, Paul received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. That same evening, Paul performed the bulk of his new album in an exclusive concert streamed LIVE on iTunes, from Capitol Studios, featuring a stellar ensemble anchored by Diana Krall and Joe Walsh, among others. The following evening, Paul was honored for his musical and philanthropic achievements as Person of the Year at the annual MusiCares gala fund-raiser, which featured such top artists as the Foo Fighters, Norah Jones, Tony Bennett, Alison Krauss, Neil Young, Alicia Keys, James Taylor, Sergio Mendes, Coldplay, Duane Eddy and Katy Perry honoring Paul with interpretations of classics from his peerless catalogue, whilst also raising a record $6.5 million-plus to provide medical care and other emergency assistance for musicians in need.

Paul concluded that monumental week at the 54th Annual Grammy Awards, beginning the evening with the Band On The Run: Paul McCartney Archive Collection Deluxe Edition winning Best Historical Album, and later wowing the 39-million-strong second-largest Grammy viewership in history with both extremes of his vast musical spectrum: First with a spellbinding rendering of "My Valentine," then with a rousing Abbey Road medley finale, culminating in the most epic jam session in the history of American television, as Bruce Springsteen, Joe Walsh and Dave Grohl joined Paul and the band to bring the house down with a six-guitar crossfire.

And as Paul closed the Grammys with those immortal words--"And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make" - they rang true as ever as an expression of the love that Paul McCartney and his fans continue to give and receive from one another, which Mexico City will undoubtedly be sharing in abundance come this May.

Paul McCartney only just got married a few weeks ago, but is already heading back out on the road. He will started his On the Run tour in Abu Dhabi on 13 November at the Grand Prix Circuit and then continues with 10 more special concerts in venues across 3 continents. Paul will be performing all around Europe, from Italy to Russia, and then closing the tour in Liverpool a year to the day since his intimate show there last year!

The On the Run tour will see Paul and his band perform for the first time ever in the United Arab Emirates. Excitement is already bubbling up amongst the crew, as Paul admits that the “particular excitement of going to Abu Dhabi is the F1 aspect” (who can blame them!). If they get the chance to watch the race, it won’t be the first time for Paul, as The Beatles visited the Grand Prix in Monaco - which apparently was “even louder” than their show!

Back in 2003, Paul played a legendary, free show at the Coliseum in Rome to half a million people. He describes that gig as “a brilliant, romantic, beautiful night”. In just a few weeks, he will return to Italy for the first time in eight years, but this time to play in Bologna and Milan.

Paul will return to Sweden and Finland and he plans on brushing up on his Swedish and Finnish as well as “re-learning some local phrases”, as he believes it is “always nice to speak to people in their own languages”.

Perhaps the most exciting part of bring On the Run, will be Paul playing in his hometown of Liverpool once again. Of course he loves playing all around the world, but he says “there’s always that feeling of it would be good to play this for the home crowd. We love it, and the audience does too. So that’s an unbeatable combination”.

Tickets for the ‘On The Run’ tour are on sale now. See the full line up of tour dates and venues here
