The concert headlined by Elton John and his band is the final event of the London 2012 Festival and will also include contribution from founder Jeremy Gilley and ambassador Jude Law.

On Friday 21 September Wembley Arena will host Peace One Day's biggest concert to date featuring a headline performance by Elton John & his band.
The concert is the final event of the London 2012 Festival and is also a legacy show celebrating the Global Truce on Peace Day 2012 and the culmination of the Olympic Truce.
Jeremy Gilley said: “Peace One Day is calling for and working towards a Global Truce on Peace Day 2012. We have a clear strategy and we hope this will be the largest global reduction of violence ever recorded on one day – Peace Day. This day is as much about non-violence in our schools, our homes, workplace and local communities as it is about ceasefire on the international stage.

Peace One Day founder Jeremy Gilley announced today that James Morrison will join what is building up to be an incredible Peace One Day concert line up. The concert will be headlined by Elton John and his band, with 2CELLOS and further artists to be announced. The concert is the final event of the London 2012 Festival and is the biggest event yet for Gilley's Peace One Day non-profit organisation, which in 2001 led a process that resulted in the unanimous adoption by UN member states of the first ever annual day of global ceasefire and non-violence, fixed in the calendar as 21 September – Peace Day.

In 2007, Jeremy Gilley and Jude Law travelled to Afghanistan to spearhead an initiative that has resulted in the vaccination against polio of 4.5 million children following Peace Day agreements by all parties in the region in 2007/8/9. This work forms the culmination of Gilley's feature documentary The Day After Peace.

Celebrating its 10th anniversary, the Bestival line up was announced last night.
Elton was himself a fan at a festival the last time he was on the Isle of Wight. The year was 1969 and Elton was on the Island enjoying Isle of Wight festival featuring performances from Bob Dylan and The Who.
"I went with a group of friends specifically to see Bob Dylan," John said. "He was fantastic. Sitting in that field I could never have imagined that just a year later Melody Maker would run the front page headline 'Dylan digs Elton!', after he came to one of my first shows in America."
After a forty year gap, Elton will return to headline the Sunday night at Bestival this summer, where festival goers can expect to hear tracks from Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, which celebrates its 40th anniversary this year.
