Wetlzar, Germany last night was bathed in sunshine and saw Elton John take to the stage for the first night on his 2012 European Tour.

Elton quiped "I have just recovered from a little infection - so, hey, here I am".

Elton's performance as part of the Hessentag Festival was called "outstanding" by HR1 and "impressive" by Wetzlarer Neue Zeitung.

Next stop on his Euopean Tour will be the Somerset County Cricket Ground, Taunton before he performs at Buckingham Palace as part of the Diamond Jubilee Celebrations. He finishes off a weekend of concerts by playing the Great Yorkshire Showground in Harrogate on Tuesday.
