25th October is the release date of Sir Elton’s critically acclaimed album with Leon Russell: The Union (Mercury Records). The Daily Mirror wrote: ‘Sir Elton is back with a bang, the Union is widely tipped for a grammy… its frankly genius…’ and Rolling Stone Magazine said: "...The Union, produced by T Bone Burnett, John and Russell share the resurrection. Each goes back to what he first did best. Then they do it together.".
The Union album sees Elton John duet with his all-time musical hero, Leon Russell - both men writing, singing and playing with real warmth and chemistry. The album features a variety of musical genres from R&B, soul, gospel, country, pop and rock. Complete with dueling pianos and trade-offs on vocals, this is a rootsy, country-infused album. Featuring Neil Young on one track, the album was produced by Oscar and multiple-Grammy winning producer, T-Bone Burnett. The simple joy these musicians clearly find in playing together, their mutual respect and affection, makes this album feel like a perfect collaboration.
